HELLO EVERYONE

Welcome to Autumn. September 22 marks the fall equinox when the length of night equals the length of day. After this time, nights become longer, until the longest night occurs in December. Fall is a time for work, home, family and self care. Use the caring thoughts, below, for inspiration. Don't forget physical exercise, deep breathing and getting enough sleep. Happy Autumn - the Harvest Season.

  • FOR THE MIND: Affirmations for Self Care

  •  We encourage others. Isn't it time we did the same for ourselves? Caring for the self includes encouraging ourselves through private self-talk. When you support yourself, with kindness and appreciation, this positive energy flows into the world.
Here are seven affirmations to start the day:
    1. I trust my intuition, and myself.
    2. I value myself and my life today.
    3. I am grateful for all my experiences.
    4. I am confident, self assured and optimistic.
    5. I am filled with positive words and ideas.
    6. I affirm only the best for myself and others.
    7. I am at peace, today, with myself and the world.

  • FOR THE BODY: What's in Your Food?

  •  In order to increase their profits, food manufacturers are altering the contents of their products. The idea is to sneak in cheaper ingredients and fillers while maintaining or increasing prices to consumers.
Soy protein, a low cost filler, is making its way into packaged foods in larger quantities. Is soy good for everyone? Absolutely not! A constant diet of soy may interfere with thyroid function.
The Mars candy company is making their packs smaller and raising prices. Pillsbury is substituting walnuts instead of expensive pecans in Turtle cookies. Will Turtles ever be the same? The manufacturer says we like it better. But do we? The Hershey company is substituting vegetable oil for a portion of cocoa butter, a healthy, tasty ingredient of chocolate products.
Most of the recent alterations can be read in the fine print of the package's ingredient list.
We need to be eating simple foods, those we can identify, those without additives, those not processed with strange hidden ingredients. We cannot rely on food manufacturer's hype. They are skimping on high quality, life enhancing foods, in favor of producing profits.
We need to rely on ourselves to choose wisely, read labels, and buy simple non-processed foods which will keep our families healthy and well nourished.
