  HELLO FRIENDS,
Autumn officially starts on September 23, and is known as the Equinox, a time when the length of night is equal to the length of the day. It is the start of a quieter personal cycle devoted to work, home, our families and making ready for winter.

  • BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD: Insurance for your Nutritional Needs
  •  GOOD NEWS! I am now credentialed and a participating provider as a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist for BC/BS insurance. Check with me regarding your insurance plan. Some plans need physician referrals and some do not for nutritional services. Insurance will only cover the Nutritional segment of the mind-body health care service I provide. I look forward to welcoming my nutritional insurance clients.

  • FOR THE MIND: Happiness is a Choice
  •  Happiness is a core desire, which most of us hope to acquire. The good news is, we have the internal ability to create our own happiness through our mind set. The bad news is, we may have to change some of our old thoughts, perceptions and expectations.
When life events occur, such as losing a job, getting a divorce, moving, or financial strains; we may think our world is coming to an end. Our inner thoughts and voices tell us the boat is rocking, the other shoe is dropping, and the bottom is falling out.
Many of these negative thought processes and judgments, have been inherited from family, friends, teachers, bosses and our ancient history. Our minds play old dark messages, like broken records, informing us how bad things seem and how much blacker they could become. Feelings of gloom and unhappiness rattle around in our heads, as if they were the ultimate truth.
As we look more closely - we become aware that we have the power to create happiness as well as unhappiness in our minds. We know when we are feeling positive, we see the world through rose colored glasses. When we are feeling blue, all seems lost.
If we take the time to stop, dump the old programming and view our lives through childlike non-judgmental eyes - we see things differently. We realize most situations have a silver lining. We watch the veil lift, offering opportunities and possibilities for future happiness and fulfillment.
Happiness comes from using our mental and emotional strength to positively color and transform our thinking. When happiness becomes our core goal, our world reflects happiness. Happiness is both the goal and the reward, which starts with the choice to be happy.

  • FOR THE BODY: Ten Healthful Nutritional Ideas
  •  1. Take the time to shop and read labels.
    2. Buy whole, unprocessed foods. Avoid refined grains and partially hydrogenated trans - fats, lurking in commercial bakery products.
    3. Buy organic when you can, they are NOT exposed to herbicides and pesticides and they taste better.
    4. Avoid sugar, refined and fake sweeteners. No one gets thin from nutri-sweet and it may cause headaches or stomach upset.
    5. Stay away from fried foods - they suck up more fat than you need.
    6. You do not have to clean your plate. Don't stuff yourself. In a restaurant - take home the extra food.
    7. Eat in a relaxed atmosphere - don't rush. It helps your digestion to eat slowly and enjoy the food.
    8. Eat because you are hungry, not because you are emotionally upset. Stress causes poor digestion.
    9. Plan your food, and your meals. If you let yourself get hungry - you may grab anything. That's why they call it "fast food".
    10. Food is an enjoyment of life. Honor good food as nourishment, energy, vitality, and special fuel to keep you healthy.
