  HELLO EVERYONE,
Wishing you all a Wonderful Autumn and a Happy Thanksgiving with all the trimmings. A time to eat well, drink, share good times and to remember gratitude for all you are and all you have.
Enjoy!

  • FOR THE MIND: The Power of Gratitude

  •  The Law of Gratitude is a universal law. From a karmic perspective, the more you give, the more you receive. The more you assist others, the more you will be assisted. From the mental perspective, the more grateful and thankful you are for your blessings, the more your blessings will increase. Thus the statement, "Count Your Blessings".

  • FOR THE BODY: Healing Foods

  •  The following foods, used through the centuries as healing remedies and pain reducers - before drugs.
    1. Ginger - relieves headaches, arthritis, fibromyalgia, stomach problems, morning sickness and nausea.
    2. Turmeric - anti-inflammatory helpful for rheumatoid arthritis and cholesterol.
    3. Cherries - for gout, and other types of pain.
4, Red Peppers - contains aspirin like salicylates, and capsaicin which warms and stimulates endorphins.
    5. Cardamom for stomach pain and digestive cramps.
    6. Sunflower Seeds contains phenylalanine - the chemical found in chocolates.

  • A RECIPE: Low Cal Turkey Salad

  •  4 oz turkey breast, cut in small bite-sized pieces
    1 diced carrot
1 stalk of celery (with leaves), sliced thin
    1 T chopped parsley
1 T raisins or dried cranberries
    1/2 apple, diced
Lemon or Grapefruit juice to taste
Toss the diced apple with the lemon juice and mix thoroughly. Combine all the remaining ingredients.

For a higher calorie creamier turkey salad, add salad dressing with or without good quality yogurt.

  • SLEEP - The Forgotten Nutrient

  •  Nutrition texts, seem to neglect air, water and sleep as essential nutrients for life. Lately, the positive aspects of sleep, are being researched and written about in magazines and other periodicals.
Without enough good sleep, we function badly. Sleep is important to health, quality of life and longevity. Having , on the average, of 8 or more hours of sleep, is reported to make us healthier. Here are 4 ways sleep can be beneficial.

    1. Lose Weight - More sleep, less uncontrolled eating
    2. Live Longer- Reduce stress and stress hormones.
    3. Look Better - Sleep rejuvenates our face and body
    4. Feel Younger - Sleep Increases growth hormone levels

Note: Turkey contains Tryptophan - an amino acid, which promotes relaxation and sleep.
