Happy New Year 2008


Winter is upon us, and it is imperative to stay aware of factors that may cause our minds and bodies to get imbalanced. These include overactivity, late nights, lack of rest and sleep, and frustration.

It is vitally important, in winter especially, that the intake and output of personal energy is balanced. This includes our foods, feelings, rest and work. Ways to stay in-balance include:
Keeping warm
Staying quiet
Sleeping well
Being at home
Looking within

This winter, especially, is an important time to make changes as we are entering a universal "one year," which indicates new beginnings. Astrologically, January is the time when Pluto moves into Capricorn, after residing in Sagittarius for over twenty years. This will bring more rules and regulations to the public. Create your own personal rules and regulations at this time. A perfect time for New Year's Resolutions.

So the obstacles are not really obstacles; they are there to help you get stronger."

  •  After the holidays, getting back on track may seem to be a daunting task. Our New Years' Resolutions may not be as hard to accomplish as they seem.

    Dr. Mark Hyman M.D. points out if you cut out sugar, caffeine, alcohol, along with fried and processed foods, replacing them with colorful fruits and veggies, fish, lean meat, skinless poultry and whole grains for just three days, you will shed up to six pounds. A bonus would be smoother skin and more energy!

    Start each day off right with the shake below. It is full of arginine and aspartic acid, amino acids that turn unwanted fat into much-desired vitality! Here is Dr. Mark Hyman's "Get-slim Shake":

    In a blender, combine:
    2 scoops rice protein powder,
    2 Tbs. ground flaxseed,
    1 Tbs. flaxseed oil
    1/2 cup chopped fresh or frozen fruit of your choice.
    Add water or ice and blend to desired consistency.
