  • ARE YOU SAD???? DO YOU HAVE WINTER BLUES????
  •    Welcome to winter. This time of year it gets dark early - around 4:30pm. Happily, the days are starting to get longer.
    Many sensitive people, like myself, do not do well with decreased daylight. SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER known as SAD, may have actual physical effects which come from sunshine deprivation. Not everyone experiences this problem which may cause Vitamin D shortages, lack of Calcium (one of the feel-good minerals), sadness, depression and increased carbohydrate munching.
    Many do not know LIGHT IS A NUTRIENT. It is as important as clean air, good water and proper food. So what can we do at this time? Here are some of my suggestions.

    1. Make sure you are outside in sunlight for 20 minutes per day, at least 4 times per week. The more sunlight the better
    2. Get enough Vitamin D - Consider Cod Liver Oil (Vitamin A & D) for the winter months. It may taste YUK, but a quick chaser of orange juice helps. For those less brave - try the capsule version.
    3. Use full spectrum lighting in you home and office. Chromolux light bulbs, plant bulbs, Sylvania and other manufacturers now have full spectrum lamp light bulbs for sale in Home Depot or other Home Building Supply Stores.
    4. If you need more light intake than full spectrum light bulbs provide, purchase a Light Box from one of the many Light Manufacturers on line. Although I do not have one, I would look into www.sunalux.com - which is recommended by Jacob Liberman, an authority on light medicine.
    5. Go south - (take me) take a vacation in a warmer, sunny climate, if you can. I believe you can store sunlight for a few days after your trip.
    6. Watch out for fluorescent lamps and fixtures in businesses and in homes (I hope not). They drain energy and do not supply healthy full spectrum light.
    7. Find light therapy at the electric beach - otherwise known as the tanning salon. This has been helpful for some people.
    8. Visualize or look at pictures of Springtime and Summer, thinking about sunny days, warmer weather and beautiful spring flowers, helping to end the winter blues.

    This workshop is about better nutrition, weight loss and stress reduction leading to better health. Using self- discovery methods we can create improved lifestyle changes. We learn to select our food better, while creating a positive and peaceful self image. Join us for a holistic approach to weight loss using guided imagery, possibility thinking and relaxation techniques.

    PAST LIVES: A SPIRITUAL ADVENTURE
    Sunday, April 4, 2004; 1-5pm
    In this workshop we will explore the theory of past lives through discussion,experiences and imagery. Yes, if you wish you can travel back in time yourself and/or facilitate a journey for a fellow workshop member. Techniques and instruction will be offered in a safe, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Join us for a fun adventure and some extraordinary discoveries. Bring pillow, blanket and snack.

    Past Lives are accepted in most of the world. In this workshop we will explore past lives through discussion and guided imagery. We will learn how the past can influence the present, our beliefs, our health and even our weight. We will travel back in time to explore, to examine, to locate our past life body memories. Techniques and instruction will be offered in a comfortable, relaxed and safe atmosphere. This promises to be a most unique reincarnation class. Your instructor has experienced 25 years of past lives both personally and professionally. She has seen many present day physical problems change with guided imagery and regression techniques.

    HOLISTIC NUTRITION, WEIGHT LOSS AND RELAXATION
    April 18, 2004 1-4pm, 3 hours, $60
    This workshop is about creating wellness along with stress reduction and weight loss. Using self-discovery methods we can improve health and lifestyle. We can learn to be more selective about our food, while creating a positive and peaceful self image. This is a holistic approach to better health using guided imagery, possibility thinking and relaxation techniques.

    THE FOOD MADE ME DO IT: Food Cravings, Compulsions and Addictions; May 16 2004 1-4pm, 3 hours, $60
    This holistic class is for those who have been struggling with food. Food compulsions may be the symptom of a hidden problem. It could be a physical reaction to the food we eat or a mental, emotional or spiritual aspect of ourselves asking for healing. Through self-exploration, guided imagery and relaxation, we can find solutions.

    FOOD FOR THOUGHT:The Great Diet Revolution
    Wednesday, April 14, 2004, 7-9pm;
    Dr. Phil and Oprah are deep into the diet revolution. Dr. Phil wrote a book and is conducting the TV Diet Challenge. Oprah has spent years going up and down the scale and rates emotional eating as the largest challenge. Dr. Atkins is moving up the diet plan hit parade. Who and What is Correct? In this group we will look at diets, past and present, group diet activities and the Food Pyramid. What are the factors which make up a good plan - what works, what doesn't? What are the best personal diet plans and the best foods for you. Bring your experiences to share.
