Spring is here!. So good to have more sunlight, less clothing and the freedom to spend more time outdoors. Don't you agree?

  • FOR THE MIND: Live Your Authentic Self

  •  Here are suggestions for living your dreams and your life. I hope they will be helpful.
    1. Live according to your own rules, as long as they are not harmful to self or others
    2. Cherish your time alone. This is time well spent to learn who you are and what do you really need to give yourself a happy life.
    3. Follow your passions and inner voice. Whatever is correct for you will make you feel good.
    4. Stop worrying about what other think and want. This is YOUR LIFE. Others are only interested in themselves (consciously or unconsciously).
    5. Move through your fears. Love them rather than hate them and they will soon disappear.
    6. You will always remember your own accomplishments with pride. If you are doing what others want, you will have no time to follow your sacred path.

  • FOR THE BODY: Energy Bars: Friend? Foe?

  •  Energy and Power Bars were created as a healthy convenient, quick way to stop hunger and cravings. They are used when it is difficult or untimely to get a meal. Many use these bars as substitutes for healthy meals and snacks. Everyone is in such a hurry these days. Pop a bar into your mouth and you are good to go. You have all the nutrition you need. Or so the advertising hype makes us believe.
    Most energy bars may be no better than candy bars. If you would read the ingredients - you will find they are high in sugar, fructose (not good for your cellular walls), or other sweetners which are just plain bad.
    Reading energy bar labels could make anyone cringe. The ingredients sound like plastic, and they might as well be. They are processed, heated, denatured, have the wrong kinds of fats and lots of soy. Why would they add non-nutritive synthetic vitamins if these bars were good to begin with? Bars can be as commercial and as unhealthy as candy bars. The difference is you can read and understand candy bars labels. Energy bar ingredients are more of a mystery. My vote for a quick, convenient snack is a piece of fruit, nuts, a mini sandwich, almond butter on rice cakes or something else you know is healthy. Carry these foods with you for regular systematic eating or emergency situations. At least you know what you are eating!

    THE FOOD MADE ME DO IT (Cravings & Compulsions)
    SUNDAY, APRIL 30,2005, 1-4pm - 3 hours; $60
    This holistic class is for those who have been struggling with food. Food compulsions may be the symptom of a hidden problem. It could be a physical reaction to the food we eat or a mental, emotional or spiritual aspect of ourselves asking for healing. Using self-exploration, guided imagery and relaxation techniques, we find answers which can lead to transformation of this situation. This course is taught by a former food addict, now a licensed nutritionist and certified hypnotherapist with 20 years of personal and professional experience.

    PAST LIVES: A SPIRITUAL ADVENTURE;
    Saturday, June 11, 2005; 1-5pm, 4 hours
    In this workshop we will explore the theory of past lives through discussion, experiences and imagery. Yes, if you wish you can travel back in time yourself and/or facilitate a journey for a fellow workshop member. Techniques and instruction will be offered in a safe, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Your instructor, Laura, had her first regression in 1977 and is now aware of 50+ of her past life adventures. She has taught past life classes for 10 years. Bring a pillow and a blanket.

    Everyone is deep into the diet revolution. Dr. Phil, Oprah, Dr Atkins and "The South Beach Diet" is everywhere! Who and what is correct? In this class, we will look at diets, past and present, group diet activities and the Food Pyramid. What are the factors that make up a good plan - what will and what will not work? What are the best personal diet plans and foods for YOU? Bring your experiences to share. Be prepared for some surprises!

    WEIGHT LOSS: A BODY, MIND, SPIRIT APPROACH

    If you have tried every method of weight loss, you are an expert on the subject. If the pounds keep returning and the eating compulsions remain - you may not be an expert on yourself. Solutions may be found in a system which is holistically compatible with your needs and works from the inside out. Be prepared to visualize, journalize, analyse, relax and let the weight go.     INTRODUCTION TO YOUR ENERGY BODY
    Wednesday, June 15; 6-8pm at Salem State South
    You thought you were onlya physical body with a mind. In this class, we will experience subtle energy systems which form the basis of alternative healing practices such as Reiki, Acupuncture, Energy Healing and Medical Intuition.
