  • NUTRITIONAL TIDBIT - THE JOY OF SOY - OR IS IT A JOY?
  •  Soybeans have become well known as part of our diets and a meat replacement for some. In the past we were introduced to soy products as tofu, tempeh, miso, and soy sauce. But now, Soy is found in dozens of items like imitation animal foods, pasta, protein powders, power bars, soy burgers, soy cheese, soy ice cream, baby formulas and herbal formulas for women.
    But, soy ain't what it used to be and what it was supposed to be. Some of these foods may not have the life supporting quality of real foods. Originally, Soy was fermented for 6 months to 3 years in Asia and then eaten very sparingly. The Chinese did not eat unfermented soybeans, as they contained large quantities of toxins.
    Scientists are finding out unfermented soy has enzyme inhibitors, growth inhibitors and has caused thryoid difficulties in some. Perhaps you need to research your soy intake and that of your family, especially if it is a large part of your diet. If you choose to use it - small amounts which have been fermented.

    This workshop is designed for people who are perpetual dieters, and for those who struggle with an extra 10 to 35 pounds. We address the issue of weight loss from the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual points of view. Traditional programs work with the physical body and conscious mind. We review these methods, then go deeper using visualization to uncover our unconscious reasons for holding on. Be prepared to relax, to enjoy and to lose weight.

    Stress has become a popular concept in our daily life. We find stress on the job, at home, in relationships and in our environment. Although we may not be able to eliminate all the stresses of life, how we respond to them can be changed. Join us for this sacred time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life as we melt our tension using visualization and other mind body relaxation techniques.

    1. ASTROLOGY A PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR BEGINNERS
    April 29, May 6, 2003; 6:30 - 8:30pm; (2 sessions)
    This class will take the mystery out of astrology. We will use a step by step process to learn the basics and speak the language. We will investigate our birth charts, study the planets, houses and transits. Bring a copy of your birth chart available on ww.astro.com.

    2. SELF HYPNOSIS FOR RELAXATION

    Hypnosis is a natural process we experience every day. We recognize this as relaxation, prayer, meditation or day dreaming. By accessing this relaxed state of mind, we can improve health and reduce stress.

    The Chakras are energy centers related to the glands and organs located in similar parts of the body. By clearing imbalances in the Chakras, we can return to a more harmonious state of health. Reiki and other healing systems are based on Chakra Energy. Join us for discussion and visualization to create good health.

    We will meditate using various traditional and non- traditional methods. There will be meditative prayers, healing visualizations, chakra work and clearouts. Benefits of meditating on a regular basis are: clarity, peacefulness, intuition, and creativity.
